Distracted from Distraction

Distracted from distraction by distraction
Filled with fancies and empty of meaning
Tumid apathy with no concentration
Men and bits of paper, whirled by the cold wind
That blows before and after time,
Wind in and out of unwholesome lungs
Time before and time after.
Eructation of unhealthy souls
T. S. Eliot wrote that we are “distracted from distraction by distraction.”
He wrote that in 1936! How timely does that feel for our world today?
Busyness ≠ progress.
We stack diversion on diversion — scroll after scroll, task after task. It feels like forward motion, but often we're just spinning until all of a sudden we find ourselves laying down wondering what we actually accomplished that day.
Fulfillment doesn’t come from more activity. It comes from focus, stillness, and choosing depth over noise.
👉 What’s one distraction you’ve cut recently that gave you more space for what matters?
