Imagination Vs. Reality

“We suffer more often in imagination than in reality.”

Seneca

It’s one of my favorite quotes—and one of the most useful.

So much of our pain doesn't come from life itself. It comes from our thoughts about life.

From fear.
From overthinking.
From imagining worst-case scenarios.

There’s another line, often credited to Mark Twain, that nails this:

“I've had a lot of worries in my life, most of which never happened.”

Maybe you know someone like that.
Maybe you are someone like that.

You worry about what’s coming. Even good things.
You play out all the ways it could go wrong.
You wait for the other shoe to drop—
instead of just…waiting to see what happens.

Here’s the truth:
You can’t prevent pain by pre-living it in your mind.
You only suffer twice.

Let this be your reminder today—
Imagination is powerful. Don’t let it become your enemy.

Stay steady,
– Kevin

Know someone who worries too much? Forward this to them as a reminder: not every thought deserves your energy.
